U.S. Tariff Takes Effect on October 14th, Furniture Category Becomes Hardest Hit!

2025.10.09
On October 14, 2025, Eastern Time, the U.S. government will officially initiate Section 232 tariff measures targeting wood and wood derivatives, imposing cost pressures on China's cross-border industrial chains such as furniture and home improvement.
  • Softwood lumber: An additional 10% tariff will be levied.
  • Decorative wood products and upholstered wood items: An additional 25% tariff will be imposed, which will be increased to 30% starting January 1, 2026.
  • Kitchen cabinets and dressers: An additional 25% tariff will be levied, and the rate will be raised to 50% on January 1, 2026.
This tariff increase is categorized as a "reciprocal tariff" and will not be 叠加 (stacked) with existing tariffs. However, it has a broad impact, covering the entire supply chain of wood, furniture, and home improvement.
⚠️ Cost Alert for In-Transit Goods: Directly affected by the policy change, containerized goods in transit that are expected to arrive at ports after October 14 may face increased costs.
We will track changes in tariff policies in real time to help Chinese cross-border enterprises avoid trade risks and maintain the stable operation of their supply chains.
